San Damiano Youth In Loving Memory of Aniela Stybor

Events

Hello San Damiano Group,

I hope you are all having a holy and blessed Lent.  Its a great time to grow and deepen in our faith.  It also brings a couple changes to our schedule as well as opportunities.

First of all, there are Stations of the Cross every Friday at 7 p.m. in the upper basilica.  We will be providing music each week for the Stations, and we invite you all to participate in this opportunity to meditate on the Passion of our Lord.

Obviously the timing of the stations clashes with our formation/parents meeting and music rehearsal.  We will not have regularly scheduled formation meetings in February or March due to Lent.  In lieu, Father will integrate a formation meeting into our March 13th gym night.  As for music rehearsal, we are going to take it on a week by week basis depending upon the difficulty of the songs, availability of the basilica, etc.

iWitness
As those of you who were with us last year remember, San Damiano Group presented iWitness His Love, Stations of the Cross.  For the new members, iWitness is a special presentation of the stations of the cross complete with meditations written by the teens, a slide show of scenes from our Lords passion, and songs played between each station.  It is really powerful, and we get a lot of people to come.  This year we will be making not one but two presentations of this event.  The first will be at the Basilica on March 19th at 7 p.m.  I attached the flier.  The second presentation will be at Holy Cross in Holyoke on March 26th.  It takes a total team effort to put together these Stations, and we'd like to try to get everyone involved.  If you want to help out I put a sign up "sheet"

 on the website.

World Youth Day
I have a couple of updates regarding World Youth Day as well.  On Sunday, February 28th from 5 to 6:30 there will be an organizing meeting with Father Marek in the Parish House.  Anyone who is interested in making this amazing pilgrimage should make an effort to attend.

I attached a sheet containing an itinerary of the trip and its cost, plus details of possibly extending the trip to visit Italy or Portugal.

Deposits and Application Forms (attached) are due Monday, March 8, 2010.

Other Stuff
Several members of San Damiano will be going to Mary's Meadow (the home for retired brothers, sisters and priests) from 3-4 p.m. on March 16th to pray the Stations of the Cross with them.

We have a new updated flier to give out to people to tell them about our group.  I attached that as well.

People have been asking about a way to share photos of the group.  Not too long ago I fixed the Photo Album feature on the website, and I would encourage you to use it. Any photos you post there will only be available to logged in members of our group.

I made a new San Damiano Group Desktop background.  I haven't been able to post it to the website yet but I attached it in case you want to use it.  (I'm using it on mine)

I hope you have a holy and blessed Lent.

Peace in Christ,
Matt Kelly
