Dilan
Recently, San Damiano Group decided to sponsor a child through the Christian Foundation for Children & Aging (CFCA). On this page you can find some information about Dilan, and any correspondence we’ve had with his mother.
Dilan, who is currently one and half years old, lives in the South American country of Columbia. He and his sixteen year old mother, Alexnadra, live with his grandparents because his father left them. Alexnadra is currently a student so she has no resources to help support herself and her child. She and Dilian, along with five other people live in a small brick house with a zinc roof and cement floor. Although they are blessed with running water and electricity, Alexnadra’s father’s income of $175 per month is not sufficient to meet the needs of the household of seven.
Most members of San Damiano Group give one dollar per months towards the thirty dollar a month obligation the group has taken on. In addition to financial support, members of the group will be able to communicate with them, through use of a translated letter service provided by CFCA. As Dilan is obviously too young to be writing letters, correspondence will go through Alexnadra. It is the sentiment of many members and parents of the San Damiano Group that her young age presents a unique opportunity for the members of the group to interact on a peer to peer basis. We will sending our first letter to her very soon.
